TENNIS
No matter what level you are, we have a tennis home for you at Barclay Downs
.
In 2001, BDSRC made a significant commitment to year-round, full-time tennis by appointing John Williams as Tennis Director. Our vision was to create opportunities for players of all skill levels to compete—and we’re proud to say we’ve delivered on that promise. Today, Barclay Downs teams participate in every level of junior, men’s, and women’s team tennis. We’ve celebrated victories at every tier, from entry-level divisions to the highest levels of competition.
Following John’s retirement in 2024, we were fortunate to welcome David Yett as our new Tennis Director, ensuring that the tradition of excellence in tennis at BDSRC continues.
Women’s Queen City
We have five women’s teams here at BD and have over 75 women playing Queen City tennis in the Fall and Spring. Matches are on either Wednesday or Thursday, and the teams practice once a week. Our teams are well known for their aggressive game styles and sound mental approach to the game of doubles. We have everything from ex-college players to true beginners playing. So there is something for everyone. If you are interested in playing on a women’s team, contact Rebecca Klepser at rklepser@me.com.
Men’s Queen City
We have two men’s team and over 40 men playing Queen City tennis here at BD. Matches are Saturday mornings in the Fall and Spring. We also organize USTA teams that play on weekday evenings throughout the year. We practice every Monday night at 6:00 PM. The men also get together and play pick up matches on Saturday mornings, Monday evenings, and Wednesday evenings. We have everything from ex-college players to true beginners playing. Our men’s team is known for its very aggressive approach to doubles. They also know how to have a good time. You will often see them on the tennis porch enjoying a cold beverage. So take your racquet and introduce yourself. You are sure to find a game. If you are interested in playing on a Men’s team, or interested in checking the schedule for clinics, contact David Yett at dybdtennis@gmail.com.

This program builds on the basics—strokes, court awareness, and rally skills. By emphasizing proper technique, players will develop consistency and the ability to rally, preparing them to move into our competitive ELITE group.
ELITE (Middle & High School Players)
Designed for players who can already rally and want to take their game to the next level. We’ll focus on advanced technique, shot selection, and match play strategy with the goal of preparing for school teams or tournaments.
