  Tennis Overview

TennisBDSRC made a commitment to full-time, year-round tennis when it hired John Williams as the Tennis Director in 2001. Our goal was to provide an opportunity for all levels of players to compete.  We can say, with confidence, that we have done just that.  Our Barclay Downs teams compete in every possible level of team tennis for juniors, men, and ladies.  In fact, we have had a BD team win divisions from the lowest level offered to the highest level offered and just about everything in between for juniors, men, and women.  So no matter what level you are, we have a tennis home for you at Barclay Downs. For information about team tennis, contact John Williams at Johnbdtennis@aol.com.

Junior Team Tennis
Barclay Downs has one of the largest and most successful junior team tennis programs in all of Charlotte. Team tennis gives kids the ability to compete against each other and other clubs in a fun environment. Matches are on Sunday afternoons in spring and fall. Contact John Williams at Johnbdtennis@aol.com.

Women's Queen City
We have five women's teams here at BD and have over 75 women playing Queen City tennis in the Fall and Spring.  Matches are on either Wednesday or Thursday, and the teams practice once a week.  Our teams are well known for their aggressive game styles and sound mental approach to the game of doubles.  We have everything from ex-college players to true beginners playing.  So there is something for everyone. If you are interested in playing on a women's team, contact Rebecca Klepser at rklepser@me.com.

Men's Queen City
We have one men's team and over 40 men playing Queen City tennis here at BD.  Matches are Saturday mornings in the Fall and Spring.  We also organize USTA teams that play on weekday evenings throughout the year. We practice every other Monday night at 6:30 PM.  The men also get together and play pick up matches on Saturday mornings, Monday evenings, and Wednesday evenings.  We have everything from ex-college players to true beginners playing.  Our men's team is known for its very aggressive approach to doubles.  They also know how to have a good time.  You will often see them on the tennis porch enjoying a cold beverage.  So take your racquet and introduce yourself.  You are sure to find a game. If you are interested in playing on a Men’s team, or interested in checking the schedule for clinics, contact John Williams at johnbdtennis@aol.com.
