Renovation Plans
A robust renovation is set to break ground right after Labor Day 2025! We are very excited to restore our treasured club through various modern upgrades that will enhance the member experience.
What has been accomplished thus far?
- Fall 2023 – A member survey was conducted that began this journey and set the scope for the proposed improvements to the club
- Winter-Summer 2024 – Renovation and Finance Committees worked with a professional Design Team to develop high level plans
- Fall 2024 – A series of BDSRC Member meetings were held to hear from you about priorities, questions, support, and concerns. This input was used to drive the ultimate scope of the project that will be built over the next year.
- December 2024 – A majority of members voted to approve the project and move forward with design and construction.
- Winter 2025 – BDSRC hired a professional team of design consultants to finalize the construction plans (DPR Design, Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, and Strata Project Management)
- Spring 2025 – Barringer Construction selected as our partner given a high level of skill and experience through work on similar projects. Discussions have begun with the Permitting officials.
What does the timeline look like?
- January 2025 – Design started
- July 2025 – Permit submission
- July 15 – Aug 15, 2025 – Assessments due
- Labor Day – Construction to start
- April 2026 – Construction is complete
- May 2026 – NEW Pool Opens for Season
How does this Impact Me – the Member?
- May get nostalgic about using the metal ladders to get in and out of the pool.
- May miss playing “step on a crack and break your momma’s back” game as you walk to your vintage blue strapped lounger.
- Should expect a huge splash due to the excitement that the pool will be transitioning to the 21st century.
What is the financial impact?
A detailed communication will be sent regarding the specifics of the upcoming assessment process. In the meantime, a summary of the 3 Options is below:
- Option 1 (preferred) = $3,000 (in total); $500 for Senior Members
- Payment Due Date – July 15 – August 15, 2025
- Option 2 = 2 payments of $1,600 ($3,200 in total); $275 ($550 in total) for Senior Members
- Payment 1 Due Date – July 15 – August 15, 2025
- Payment 2 Due Date – July 15 – August 15, 2026
- Option 3 = Resignation of Membership
- Membership will terminate on December 31, 2025. This includes all access to the pool and tennis facilities.
For all those choosing Option 1 or 2, 2026 Dues will then be $1,100, ($200 for Senior Members) due at the normal February timeframe.
For those choosing to terminate your membership (Option 3), please notify BDSRCmembership@gmail.com as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.
Please note: After careful consideration, the Board has decided it is in the best interest of the Club to keep the standard “All-In” membership. This means each member has access to both the Pool and the Tennis facilities.
Why is BDSRC investing in this renovation? Why now?
BDSRC and its original facilities, including the pool, were built in the early 1960’s. A major renovation was undertaken in 2007 to add the baby pool, bathrooms, tennis office, and snack bar expansion. Since then, various enhancements have been made in a continuous fashion.
In Winter 2024, based on the desire from BDSRC’s engaged membership, another club renovation was voted on, with the focus being modernization and safety. Upgrades will include gradual access into the pool, snack bar improvements, new furniture, more shade and water features, as well as more activities and facilities for young families and children to enjoy. As with any renovation endeavor, key maintenance elements will also be made including pool pumps and electrical upgrades, refreshed locker rooms and winterization features, along with snack bar facility updates, and a retaining wall.
How long has the renovation been in the works?
The initial survey was completed in 2023 and the Board formed committees in 2024 to begin the process. The Committees worked with consultants and held member meetings throughout 2024, wherein a vote occurred in December 2024 to officially move forward and the Contractor was then selected in Spring 2025.
Who is handling the renovation?
The Renovation and Finance Committees are working with several professional consultants including the following:
- General Contractor: Barringer Construction
- Project Manager: Strata Project Management Group
- Civil Design: DPR Design
- Architect: Little Diversified Architectural Consultants
What is the estimated timeline for start and completion?
The project is currently in the design and permitting phase. Construction is set to begin in September 2025 with a targeted completion by May 2026.
